Lee Ellen Pottie
Lee Ellen Pottie is a self-employed editor, writer, and researcher, a sessional professor at UPEI, occasional professor at Misr International University in Cairo, and an amateur photographer and painter. On the academic side, she has edited theses and dissertations, journal articles in Forestry, Mathematics, Business, IT, Nursing, Social History and Economics, French literature, English, and multi-disciplinary studies. In non-academic writing, she has edited memoir, fiction, poetry, social commentary, history, business and marketing, communications, government, and other types of documents. She is completing a poetry manuscript about Vincent Van Gogh, based on his letters and art, and her research. Lee Ellen has published poetry in the Windsor Review, the anthology Snow Softly Falling: Holiday Stories from Prince Edward Island, and in Canada: 150+ Years of Poetry. Alfred Gustav Press (publisher David Zieroth) published eight of the Van Gogh poems in December 2018 in a chapbook titled worthless. In 2005, Saturday Morning Chapbooks published her chapbook From Pushthrough to Madagascar.
In October 2017, she was a participant in the Emerging Writers’ Poetry Workshop at The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Lee Ellen holds an Honours BA in English from UPEI (1999) and an MA in English and Creative Writing from U. Windsor (2000) where her thesis Transitory State: A Poetry Collection was supervised by Alistair MacLeod.
Born in Halifax, she grew up in Montreal, Fredericton, and Windsor. She is continuing the growth process in Prince Edward Island. Her clients live as near as down the street and as far as Nebraska, Japan, India, and Toronto.
