Food and wine are high on the list, but my professional and personal interests are varied and hopefully run a bit deeper. I work with clients in many fields and welcome projects from progressive companies, trade book publishers, and individuals and organizations in the public and non-profit sectors.

Six years of intensive in-house experience and a hundred and thirty books later and ingrained in me is a particular set of editorial skills. After completing an editing certificate through Simon Fraser University's Writing and Publishing Program in 2003, I worked in-house at Self-Counsel Press, a publisher of popular self-help business and legal titles, followed by a longer stint at award-winning trade publisher Whitecap Books. I form solid relationships with writers and designers, take care of and anticipate editorial problems that would be costly to fix at later stages, outsmart errors with checklists, and power-use Microsoft Word. My in-house experience has given me an appreciation of what makes the go-to freelance editor, especially for projects with rigid timelines and complex requirements. Expect a quick grasp of what you need, meticulous edits, and always the friendly email.

My particular expertise—and much of my experience—is in cookbook editing. I've contributed to several works that won or were short-listed for the Taste Canada Award (formerly called the Canadian Culinary Book Award).
