Cadence Editing and Communications
Communicating well is the essence of good writing, and good editing goes further to help you get your message across clearly, concisely, and effectively. I can assess and improve your writing to ensure that you are getting your message across in the best way possible.
I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from Northwestern University. After an active and successful career as a classical orchestral violinist, I returned to school and earned an MA in Communications from the University of Calgary, with a concentration in organizational communication. Following my move to Ottawa, I completed the Editing Certificate from Simon Fraser University. I have also worked in arts administration for the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra.
With this unique background, I’m well suited to writing and editing for and about musical organizations and the arts, and I have extensive experience writing, editing, and proofreading materials such as concert season brochures, concert house programs, fundraising materials, grant applications, and educational materials. With my MA in Communications, I am also experienced in writing and editing for the social sciences.
I have been published in the International Journal of Arts Management and the Nonprofit Quarterly. In addition to my editing work, I currently perform as a first violinist with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and the Lansdowne String Quartet.
